Running a business is lonely. And stressful.
At the end of the day, everyone else leaves the business. But the business never leaves you.
The worries. The problems. The responsibility you feel for the people you employ. The responsibility you feel to your customers. And to financial stakeholders. Payroll and bills that have to be paid -regardless of how sales were that month.
It’s stressful.
And it’s lonely.
The good news is – it doesn’t have to be.
Because right here in Boston, there is a group of CEOs/business owners experiencing these very same things. And they’re not going it alone – they’re going it together.
Imagine having year-round access to 8-12 other CEOs and business owners who – like you – know what it’s like to run a business, and who are committed to helping you run it better, and more profitably, and with more joy?
That’s Vistage.
What is a CEO peer advisory group?
A CEO peer advisory group is a forum in which CEOs from non-competing local businesses come together in a safe, confidential environment to tap into each other’s insights, experiences, and diverse perspectives in order to make better decisions, solve common challenges, uncover new opportunities, safely test out new ideas, and to learn .

“The great thing about this group is that when one of us processes an issue, there is usually at least one or more of us that can relate and get something out of it as well.” – Quote from one of my board’s members.
Vistage’s offering is a program of executive and leadership development that revolves around a monthly peer group meeting. The core market is people who run mid-market companies – CEOs, company Presidents, and owners – from non-competing, privately-held businesses in the $5MM – $1000MM / 25 – 200 employee range.
The meeting is a forum in which members get – and give – unbiased advice on major decisions they have to make, common problems they face, concerns they have, and opportunities they’re evaluating that transcend their respective industries, and which they don’t feel comfortable discussing with those they typically turn to for advice. It’s also a safe space in which they can test innovative ideas. Members benefit by making better decisions, becoming better leaders, and getting better results by having access to what effectively is a board of advisors, one made up of their peers. It also reduces the sense of isolation many CEOs and business owners – even veteran ones – feel.
And it works – in 2020, Vistage CEO members grew their annual revenue on average by 4.6% in 2020, while nonmembers with comparable small and midsize businesses saw revenue decrease by 4.7%.
